Famous Quotations I Enjoy

Doing Well

There is nothing like a good quotation. I like those posters with the inspirational sayings. We used to have several on the walls in my college dorm. A good quotation can brighten my day. A sad quotation can make me feel melancholy but I love them all the same. Here are a few of my favorites quotes.

"For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish." --Luke

"By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth." --Proverbs

Yogi Berra was one of the funniest people when he was alive. He often said things that made people shake their heads. But you usually understood what he was referring to.

"Even Napoleon had his Watergate."

"Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets."

"There are some people who, if they don't already know, you can't tell 'em."

"I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?"

Sir Winston Churchill was considered one of the greatest wartime leaders in European history. He was not so well-loved during peace time. I guess he was just better at leading a country under threat by a hostile neighbor. These are some of my favorite quotes by Churchill.

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm."

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."

"Nver give in, never give in, never; never; never; never -- in nothing, great or small, large or petty -- never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense."/p>

"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."
